Keynotes

Keynotes with invited international speakers were intended to provide an overview and stimulation for the discussions. At the same time, they delved into overarching questions on the core topics. Keynotes were held on-site at the Leibniz Headquarters in Berlin in front of a small audience and were broadcasted live to an online audience.

Innovation and Sustainability – friends or foes? (Video)

Lea Fünfschilling, Dr., Lund University, Assoc. Senior Lecturer, Centre for Innovation Research (CIRCLE)          

Lea Fünfschilling is an associate senior lecturer at the Centre for innovation Research (CIRCLE, Department of Design Sciences) at Lund University. She holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Basel in Switzerland. Her current research interests are centered around understanding the dynamics of sustainability transitions in various industries (e.g. water, chemicals, transport or forestry). Special attention is thereby devoted to the role of transformative innovation policies and the development of an analytical framework that conceptualizes transitions as (de-)Institutionalization processes of socio-technical systems. She is coordinator of the Swedish Transformative Innovation Policy Platform (STIPP) and an active board member of the Sustainability Transition Research Network. She has recently been awarded an ERC Starting Grant for her project ‘ENDINGS – Towards a theory of endings in innovation studies’ which will start in January 2023.

Philippe Larrue, Dr., OECD, Policy Analyst, Directorate for Science Technology and Innovation (DSTI)

Philippe Larrue is policy analyst at the Directorate for Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTI) at the OECD. He currently manages several projects in relation to innovation policy to address societal challenges, notably the study into the design and implementation of mission-oriented innovation policies (MOIPs) and a project on the role of research and technology organisations for sustainable transitions. He also regularly leads or contributes to OECD Innovation Policy Reviews (Malaysia, Sweden, Kazakhstan, Norway, Portugal, Kuwait, and Korea). Philippe Larrue chairs the Strategic Advisory Board of the European Forum for Studies of Policies for Research and Innovation (Eu-SPRI Forum).
